The funds to pay for the incentive program will come from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), and it will last through Jan. 14, 2022.

“This incentive is about doing everything in our power to protect our employees and our residents. We are still in a pandemic. People are still losing their lives and getting seriously ill because they are not vaccinated,” said Mayor Brandon M. Scott.

It's already mandatory for City employees to get the COVID-19 vaccine or submit to weekly testing.

Employees who do not upload their vaccination status and do not comply with the City’s weekly testing option will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.

To date, 66.6% of vaccine-eligible Baltimore City residents aged 18 years and up are fully vaccinated. Baltimore City’s Department of Human Resources (DHR) reports that 9,238 employees are fully vaccinated and 3,303 employees have yet to report their vaccination status. The vaccination data shows a 73.7% vaccination rate in the City.
